Tone it right!

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to my blog.

So, today i am going to tell you guys about toning. Toning is also done after cleansing. It is more like a finishing touch to cleansing.

Toning is like closing all your pores after you've cleaned them which the cold water might not have done. It soothes and calms your skin and prevents irritation. Makes a smooth base for serum or moisturizer. But there are a few things that you might not have known about toning, which i am going to tell you guys now, so keep reading to know.

As toning is just used as a finishing to touch to cleansing, many people feel that it is unnecessary and don't do it everyday. Some feel that it can be completely skipped. But it is very important to tone your face after cleansing and/or exfoliating. Toning is not just a finishing touch. It is a lot more than that.

Toning Closes your pores tight. It prevents oil production and excess sweating. Toning also soothes and calms your skin. Toning is very important, especially if you wear makeup. Since most of us do wear makeup, we gotta put in more skin care on our face before we let the makeup touch our face.

Before toning, i would suggest you to run an ice cube all over you face so that you can stay oil free for longer. Toning can also remove any cleanser residue or oil/makeup remover/ makeup residue from your skin. It is advisable to tone your face twice daily.

There are three kinds of toners.

Mild
These are the ones which are mostly used. They usually contain water and glycerin. They keep the moisture in the outermost layers of skin while shrink the appearance of your pores.

Tonic.
These are slightly strong. They a have a little bit of alcohol in them. You mostly find cleansing toners or exfoliating toners in this type.

Astringents.
These are the strongest types. These are mostly suitable for oily skinned beauties. Mostly you will treatment tonic in this type. They have a bit more alcohol than the other two type and it is not very natural and not recommended for people with sensitive skin.

The most common type of natural mild toner is rose water which is amazing. It works for almost all types of skins.

Make sure that your toner is always stored in the refrigerator rather than with the rest of your skin care. When toners are cold, they work even better and they will help prevent excess oil. Toners also balance the skin's PH level so it is advisable to use one right after you've cleansed before putting on any other product on your face.

There are different toners for different skin types.
If you have just normal skin, then you can use the regular mild ones.

If you have severe acne/acne prone skin then I would suggest that you use the cleansing or the exfoliating ones which will do a thorough job of cleaning your face while the properties of a toner work on your face.

If you have severe skin problems due to sun damage or premature aging, then there are some toners which are specially formulated for a specific skin issue.

If you have very very sensitive skin, then you need not use the harsh toners in the market. You can make one on your own.

Green tea bags.

Store the used green tea bags in the refrigerator for a day, and it directly can be used as a toner on your face. It is perfect for people with oily/combination skin.

Rose water.

Boil some rose petals in distilled and filter out the rose petals, and store the water in a small spray bottle. Store in the refrigerator. Make sure that you use it within a week or two.
You can make distilled water by boiling the water in a kettle and putting a bowl in it and close it with a lid and put ice cubes on the lid, for few minutes and you will get distilled water in the bowl.

Make sure that you put a moisturizer and sun-block on after your skin care if you want to protect your pampered skin. Without moisturizer and sun block, everything that you do earlier just goes to a waste. So never skip them.

So, that's it. It's all about the basic skin care.

I hope you found this post helpful. If you did, them make sure to share it with your friends and give it a '+1' Make sure to like our Facebook page and follow on twitter. :)

I will see you soon with another skin care post.
Until then, i hope you are all well.

Exfoliate with Care.

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog!

So, today i am going to talk you through about exfoliating. It is the step that you do after cleansing and it is very important to exfoliate your skin. I am going to tell you guys how to do it right.

So, after you have washed your face, its time to exfoliate.
What is Exfoliation?

Exfoliating involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin's outermost surface. Exfoliation is involved in the process of all facials, during microdermabrasion, or chemical peels at medical spas. It can also be done at home with ease by exfoliating products.

Why Exfoliate?
Exfoliation deeply cleanses our skin.
Smoothens  and refines your skin giving it a radiant glow.
Prevents pre-mature ageing.

You can exfoliate by using a brush or by using a facial scrub. Exfoliating helps prevent premature ageing. It treats/heals sun damage, acne, blackheads and whiteheads.

Make sure that you know your skin type before you exfoliate. Your skin type and the strength of the treatment method determines how often you should exfoliate. If you have very sensitive skin, you must limit your exfoliation and use a mild treatment. If you have oily/combination skin which is acne prone, then you can use a heavy treatment with more granules.

You can of course exfoliate in winter. some people may think that it may make our skin dry and flakey, but exfoliating only removes the dead skin cells. During winter, exfoliation can be limited but not omitted. Use a good moisture after you exfoliate.

Some women feel that since it removes your dead skin cells, "the more, the better". This isn't actually true. Exfoliating everyday or too often is not required. Especially for women with too oily or too dry skin. If you scrub off the surface layer of dead skin too often, your body will overcompensate by producing more oil or becoming even drier.

Some feel that scrubbing dry is more effective. ( Seriously, i used to feel and do the same) Scrubbing your dry face is not  very good idea. Like any other effort meant to supercharge your exfoliation efforts ( and results) this leads to all kinds of damage. It's painful to even think about it. Always make sure that you've got water in the mix when you exfoliate.

Exfoliation also fades away your tan in the long run. But, if you want to detan, excessive scrubbing is not the solution. You don't need to scrub more than twice a week. Maximum thrice. If you have very dry skin, then once a week is enough  and you're good to go.

Don't forget to exfoliate you're neck, because you're neck shows the first signs of ageing. It is important to exfoliate to prevent the fine lines on your neck.

Make sure that you do not put too much pressure while you exfoliate as it may cause redness and it is so painful.

If you are very sensitive to using chemical products then you can make your own scrub using the ingredients which you can easily find in your kitchen.

Sugar Lemon Scrub.
Slice a lemon into half and dip it into a bowl of sugar and rub it on your face gently. The sugar acts as an exfoliant while the lemon brightens your skin up.

Coffee scrub.
After taking the coffee decoction out, you can use the coffee's powdery paste(i don't know what that's called :P) directly. Coffee is a great scrub. It tightens your skin and also reduces cellulite, so not just on the face, but you can use this on any part of you body.

One last thing, exfoliate regularly, but not daily.

That's it! :D
That's all I know about exfoliating :P

Cleanse Away!

Hi Everyone!  Welcome to my blog!

So, today I'm gonna talk about cleansing. If you don't do this, then don't even think of your skin. Obviously,  everyone cleanses their face...at least..twice daily. But, think again. Are you doing it right? Do you still have acne or any other skin problems even after washing twice daily? You probably are using the wrong products or you're doing it completely in the wrong way.  So I'll be telling you guys the right way to cleanse.

Step 1. Make sure that you have removed all your makeup from your face.  You Don't wanna wash a face full of makeup. It will partly Remove the appearance of your makeup but not completely. So remove your makeup first. Use a good quality makeup remover or makeup remover wipes. If you have sensitive skin or if you don't wanna use harsh chemicals on your skin(I don't wanna. :P) use extra virgin olive oil to remove your makeup by gently massaging your face directly using your fingers or, you can use cotton pads.

Step 2. Open up your pores. After removing your makeup, just rinse off the oil or makeup remover with water. Then place a hot towel on your face and press. Rub slightly to remove any residue of makeup remover or oil.  The hot towel will open up your pores. Don't use very hot towel that it burns your face...

Step 3. Now that your pores are open, it's time to cleanse the bad boys. Use a cleanser or a face wash that suits you the best. There are different kinds of cleansers for different skin types. So choose one that suits your skin. Your cleanser may also depend on the weather of the area you're living in.
If you have oily skin use an oil free cleanser or a water based one. If you have dry skin then use one which has essential oils in it and heavy moisturizing duties and has cream base consistency.  If you have combination skin, use a foaming face wash. You might also want to change your cleanser depending on the humidity and all that. ..

You can use your fingers to wash your face but using a face brush works the best. You can use a toothbrush as an alternative.  In anyway,  use what works the best for you.

Step 4. The finishing step. Always finish off with a cold water rinse. This will close your pores tight. Make sure you washed everything properly not leaving behind any cleanser residue. Pat dry with a towel gently and don't rub or tug your face or it will spread with bacteria.

General Tips
* Wash your face twice/thrice daily. Once when you wake up and once before going to bed for best results.
* Always start off with hot water and finish off with a cold water rinse. This is a great pore exercise.  Closing your pores tight will help prevent sweating and excess oil.
* Keep changing your cleanser every 2-3 months or your skin may get used to it and get sensitive to other products and brands.
* Make sure to wash your hands with an antibacterial soap before washing your face because at the end of the day, your hands are the most dirtiest part of your body and you don't wanna transfer all the bacteria to your face.

I hope you found the post helpful. If you did, share it with your friends and give a +1.
I'll see you soon.
Take care.

How to Properly Prep your skin before makeup without making it look heavy!

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog!

So, we all have one or the other skin care routine or  a morning routine which consists of some things that we put on our face before the actual makeup. But one thing i have noticed is that when we are putting all these on our face, it is making us sweat a lot more faster and makes our skin oily quicker than it usually gets and our makeup ends up no where. It is either the products that we use or the amount/consistency or the way we use them.
So, i am going to share these few tips/tricks kinda things to make the layers feel light.

So, as usual, start with a clean face. Use a cleanser that you normally use and wash your face and make sure that there is no sebum or oil left on the face or any previous creams or anything that you have applied. After cleansing your face, just run an ice cube all over your face. This will close your pores tight and prevent sweating.

Some one somewhere told me that you should not put an ice cube directly on to your face, so try wrapping it in a cloth/hand kerchief and the run it all over your face.

Tone your face soon after cleansing. This is also an important step as it helps closing your pores up. Try to use natural toners like rose water or green tea as these are s soothing and are natural.

Next step is obviously moisturizer. A moisturizer softens your skin and keeps it hydrated and makes a smooth base for your makeup. So never avid this step.   If you have dry skin, use a heavy cream. If you have oily skin then use a water based one or an oil-free formula. Change the consistency also depending on the weather of the area that you live in.

Your moisturizer can be less or more depending on how dry your skin is.

Next is sunscreen. NO matter how cloudy it is, you must always wear your sunscreen and never apply generous amounts. Apply more to get maximum protection and always carry a small bottle with you to reapply every 2 to 3 hours.  Make sure that you are blending it well. Just go in circular motions until the white cast disappears.  Let the layers absorb into your skin for 5 mins before you start your actual makeup.

Try to use a lightweight foundation or a BB cream or a powder foundation on hot humid days and save the thick consistency foundations for the winters or dry days...

Use water proof, long lasting makeup. There are so many good brands like L'Oreal, Revlon which come at affordable prices.  So give them a try.

I honestly suggest to skip the foundation and just use a concealer under your eyes, and anywhere else that you need and just powder up. Since its also getting rainy, use foundation every day is not the best thing to do , as if you get wet, your makeup might get cakey....

Always carry a small compact with you at all times to touch up, just in case if you are getting oily or sweaty..

SO that's it for this time. This was a real quick post this time, and also i may not be able to write posts very often for few months as i am getting busy with high school and stuff, but i will try to write whenever i'm free. I would love to help you guys! Please stay tuned and take care

Hair care for this summer!

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog!

So we all hate summers. It's so hot and we tend to sweat a lot and excess sweat on the scalp causes hair-fall and other hair problems. So, today i am going to share with you guys some ways on how to take of your hair in the summers.

So the first thing is a hair oil which can be used before washing your hair. Peppermint oil is great and gives a nice tingling sensation on the scalp which feels so good. You can mix few drops of this oil to olive oil or coconut oil or any oil that you use and massage your scalp and take it down to your hair. Leave this for 1 hour or over-night if  you can,  and wash off in the morning.

Use a shampoo which has menthol or any kind of cooling agents in it. I personally feel that.  "Head and Shoulders cool Menthol" works best. It feels like ice cubes being rubbed on your scalp. You can also you" Clear Menthol" or any other shampoo which gives the same kind of effect. These kind of shampoos give a nice fresh feeling to the scalp and do a decent job of cleansing.

Reduce the amount of conditioner that you use each time you shampoo and don't take it above the mid lengths of your hair. This stuff can get a bit oily and sticky in the long run. So use it in less amounts. This way you are conditioning your hair and also at the same not making it too oily.

Use baby powder if you have a very oily scalp. Use very little amount or you will end up making it look like dandruff. So use very very little amount. If you have normal to oily scalp then you can completely skip this step.

Try to wash your hair every other day or at least every two days because we are going to be sweating a lot and all that sweat on your scalp will get dry but the bacteria remains in its place and you will sweat again and all this happens again and the longer you keep that on your head, the more your hair will fall. So try to wash it as frequently as you can but not everyday.

Use dry shampoo. They absorb all the oil and greasiness from you hair and makes it feel dry. You can use a bit of shine spray or non sticky serum to add a bit of shine, but i personally feel that dry looking hair(non-shiny. Not dry brittle) looks quite sexy in the summers.

Get regular trims, as your hair is prone to damage and split ends due to the heat. So its important to go for trimming as frequently as possible. I would suggest to get it trimmed every 20-25 days. You don't have to go for crazy amounts. Just trimming the tiniest bit of your hair is suggested.

Summer also calls for frizzy hair so use a bit of serum on the areas that you want to combat the frizziness and leave the rest of the hair bare. Use a heat protectant mist or a hair sunscreen if you don't use heat tools. The heat from the sun is more than enough to damage your hair.

Okay, so this was like a quick tips kinda post! I hope you found it helpful. If you did then please do share it on Facebook, twitter and g+

I will see you guys soon!
Until then, i hope you are all doing well!

Take Care

How to layer skin care products: Night time routine.

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog!

so, bed time is the time when our body and skin get healed, repaired and rejuvenated. So it is important to maintain a healthy and good skin care regime during the night. So, today, i am going to share my views on how to layer your skin products during the night time. do your night time routine at least 30 mins before going to bed, to let the products you apply absorb into the skin, or you will end up sticking everything to your pillow.

Makeup Remover

SO the first thing you are gonna do is remove all your makeup. You have been wearing makeup all day long, and all the sebum and dirt get stuck to it by the end of the day, so its now time to remove it all. I already made a post on how to easily remove everyday makeup. i will leave the links down below. check it out, or just use the makeup remover that you are used to.

Cleanser

After removing your makeup, cleanse your face using a mild face wash. No matter what brand, your makeup remover cannot remove 100% makeup, so its important to cleanse your face. Apply a pea sized amount, work lather in circular motions, Rinse off. Pat dry.

Toner

Use a toner to remove any leftover makeup or the cleanser residue. A toner is very gentle and will close your pores tight and soothe your skin making it feel fresh.

Treatment

Next it is time to use a treatment. If you have acne prone skin, hyper pigmentation or any other skin problems, use a cream  based ointment and save the gel based ones for the day time.
Use them only if they are  prescribed by your dermatologist/doctor. You want the treatment to get absorbed first, and work it's magic before applying anything else. Always consult your doctor before you use any medical treatments on your skin.  If you have flawless skin, then you can skip this step.

Eye Cream

Then use an under eye cream. Use ring finger to gently apply it and the dab it and then go in outward motion to spread it.

Serum

Use a serum before using a moisturizer because these seem to be thinner than the moisturizer and they will absorb way faster than a moisturizer. There are different kinds of serums in the market. For brightening, anti-ageing, pigmentation, acne scaring, smoothing, etc.  SO use one that you require and suits your skin.

Moisturizer

It's time for moisturizer. It is important to use one. It will help make your skin soft and keep it hydrated. Even if you have oily skin, you must use one. Use an oil-free one or a water based one. You might wanna change the consistency depending on the climatic conditions of the area that you live in.

Lip balm

Finally use a lip balm or Vaseline petroleum jelly. Apply with your ring finger and gently dab.

Apply the leftover lip balm or Vaseline over you upper lash line and lashes to promote lash growth in the long run. Doing so will definitely make your lashes stronger and less prone to breakage.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your bed time is the time where your skin repairs, heals and rejuvenates. So, it is important to follow a strict routine at night. No matter how tired you are, you must follow a routine strictly. Never ever sleep with makeup. By doing so, you are yourself inviting skin problems to you.
So. take care of yourself and your skin.
