How to have glowing skin and hair this winter.

Hey Everyone! Welcome back to my blog. So it is the winter finally. I love winters. It is my favorite time of the year. Also, I'm very excited for Christmas. I just love everything about winters and Christmas but there is one thing that I a not really looking forward to in the winters. And that is dry and pale skin. Our skin just gets very dry and scaly and not very good to see and to feel. So, today I a going to be sharing my thoughts on how to get glowing smooth skin, this winter.

So, it might be very tempting to have hot steaming showers in the winters because obviously it is very cold outside. But having these hot steaming showers are very bad your skin. This hot water will rip off your skin of its natural moisture and bounciness and make it very dry and dead. So always have showers with lukewarm water instead of hot steaming showers.

Make sure to moisturize your skin regularly. When you are out of the shower and you skin is still a little bit damp, it is the best time to moisturize your skin. All the product will be absorb better and faster without getting wasted or transferring to your clothes. Moisturize you whole body. Even if you have oily skin, you must moisturize. Choose something that is a little bit light. Something that is water based. And if you have normal skin, you can use a normal moisturizer. But if you have extremely dry and scaly skin then oil based lotions are best for you. Apply all over your arms and legs immediately after taking a warm shower.

Keep yourself well hydrated. Drink lots and lots of water. Your body will need that extra hydration because it loses all the moisture. You hands and feet get dry. Your lips are chapped and your hair also gets very dry. So drink a lot of water to keep your body hydrated and for your skin and lips to restore of it natural moisture. In the winter, chances are high for your body and sin to get dehydrated, so make sure that you are drinking enough water. I know that drinking a lot of water is not realistic and is very boring, so to make it more interesting, you can add mint leaves to your water to give it that minty taste or make yourself a nice green tea twice a day. In this way you are not drinking just water but something healthy and with a little bit of taste.

You hair tends to get very very dry in the winter. Sometime to that extent that it start to look like a birds nest. Just washing and conditioning won't be enough during the water. You need to oil your hair before washing. This is called preconditioning. This can be done even if the humidity is high. Do not use a non-sticky oil. Save them for the summer and use a proper sticky warm oil and massage your scalp with an d bring it down to the tips of your hair. Leave it for two-three minutes or overnight if you can and then wash and condition your hair as normal. This will keep your hair smooth and shiny. You can even make a nice hair pack and apply it your hair once or twice a week before washing it.

For this hair pack, you will need:

2 tablespoons of warm coconut oil
1 tablespoon o warm honey.

Take the ingredients and put them in the oven for round 30 seconds. It is important to heat the honey to prevent grey hair. Then mix both the ingredients and apply it your hair and wrap in up in a shower cap to keep the hair. Leae it for about an hour and then shampoo and condition as normal.

Honey will give moisture to the hair while the coconut oil makes it soft and shiny. Doing this at least once a week will benefit your hair and keep it from ripping of it moisture and bounce.

During this cold weather, it is also very normal that your scalp gets very dry and you have a lot dandruff and itchiness. To avoid this there are many thins you can do. As simple as using an anti-dandruff shampoo. Use can also do hot-oil massages to your scalp once or twice a week to get rid of visible flakes of dandruff. Or, you can make a pack to get rid of dandruff.

For this pack, you will need:

6 tablespoons of curd
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
4 tablespoons of oil(coconut/almond/olive)

Mix all the ingredients and apply to your scalp. Leave this pack for 45 minutes and not any longer because lemon is a bit drying and can also cause dryness. So you can also add a little bit of honey if you wish to. Apply this to your scalp only and not to the entire hair. You do not have to use a shower cap. After 45 minutes rinse the mask off and shampoo and condition as normal.

Your face is the part which is constantly exposed to the changing weather and it undergoes all kinds of problems due to weather change. Your skin will feel very dry and flakes especially around the nose and forehead. It is important to moisturize your face along with your body. Do not use the same product for your face and body. Your face skin is thinner than your body skin. Use something that is more gentle for your face skin and something that can keep your skin moisturized for longer because it is constantly exposed to the cold weather.

Moisture your face and body. Once in the morning and once before going to bed. During bed time, use something that is more efficient because night time is the time when you're skin is rejuvenating and repairing. So always use an efficient product for bed time and use a normal moisturizer during the day time when you are in the go, preferably something that has some SPF. You would not like to use separate moisturizer and sunscreen because sunscreens can be too greasy and make your face look oily. Always use multipurpose products that are not drying and non greasy to have glowing skin.

Change all your soaps and shampoos. I personally like to use either dove or pears soaps and face washes. I believe they make shower gels too. Shower gels or gel bars like fiama di wills would be better because they are less drying. Soaps like dove and pears are also non drying. For hair, since scalp can get dry and you might experience a lot of dandruff, Head and Shoulders Smooth and Silky shampoo would be a good option of which a review will be coming up soon so stay tuned. They also have a cool menthol one which is more of a summery shampoo, which I have already reviewed and I will leave the link at the end, so make sure to check  it out once.
